The Krups Fresh Aroma Coffee Maker continued 2003/01/30

Pros:

  • This machine will grind the beans and give a fresh cup of coffee every time.
  • The price is right and runs around $50.00 to $60.00 (US) about the price of a starter grinder.
  • The timer is an excellent feature.

Cons:

  • The grinder is a little loud.
  • You must always clean the machine and dry it well especially the bean hopper and filter screen. (If this clogs you get lousy coffee and a mess to boot.)
  • The 10-cup level is misleading, as the system has to take the water from the back of the machine and drop it to the front. The steam evaporating is pretty high so you lose about two cups on every brew.
  • The machine is quite loud and will create a lot of steam.

Comments:
This machine is not for everyone and you must really want to have a great cup of coffee. If you don't want to bother with the grinder and just use it as a drip coffee maker, forget the machine and try one of the other Krups models that are strictly filter machines. The novelty of this machine is that it grinds fresh all the time just before the brew; you can't get fresher ground coffee than that. This is not an easy machine to use and requires high maintenance, which is probably the reason why the Krups people dropped this model. However, if you want to take time to brew the best cup of coffee ever this is one of the machines on the market for you.
